Well, ready or not, here it comes!!! By the time you read this, there will only be about 5 weeks left before the 1997 Choey!!!! From what we are hearing, the turnout will be even bigger than last year. Some old friends who haven’t been seen in a while have confirmed that they will attend. Sign-ups are from 11:30 to 12:00 on Saturday with events starting at 12:15. Please note the time change.

The entry fee is still $70/team. For $35/person you get a Kuch original T-shirt, all you can eat and drink for 2 1/2 days, a raft trip down the Delaware, a pig roast, door prizes, and lots of laughs. Of course all are welcome even if they don’t want to compete (does the term SISSY come to mind?). A donation of $25.00/person is required for eats, grog, and T-shirt.

The good news is that the float on Sunday has become as big as the Choey itself. The bad news is that we have run out of rafts! So, unfortunately we are going to have to charge a $10 to $15 fee for raft rentals on Sunday. We will do everything we can to keep that fee to a minimum, but Mac just doesn’t have the rafts for 60 people.

We will have 2 Divisions again this year, Men’s and Co-Ed. Each division will have separate rankings and separate trophies. However, Co-Ed teams will still play against Men’s teams throughout the day. As we noted in our previous letter, there were more Co-Ed teams last year than Men’s teams. (Hey Jon Zanger, we think it’s time you took the skirt off and played with the big boys!)

The raffle this year will be run differently than in previous years. Raffle Tickets will still be priced as follows: 1 Ticket-$5.00, 3 Tickets-$10.00, 7 Tickets-$20.00, or 10 Tickets-$25.00. However, there are some changes. We will raffle off about 15 to 20 large prizes this year. What about the T-shirts and other neat stuff you ask? Well, we will have those too BUT we will be giving them out when you enter the raffle. All of those familiar "smaller prizes" (T-shirts, hats, etc.) will be given out when you pay for your raffle tickets. If you buy 3 tickets, you can chose 1 of the smaller prizes. Buy 7 tickets and you can choose 2 prizes, and if you pry open the wallet and buy 10 tickets, you can choose 3 of the smaller prizes. This will only occur as supplies last so buy those tickets early. Also, when we raffle off the big prizes, a single person will only be able to win three prizes. This is known as the "Carolyn Varca" rule since last year she won everything in sight. So, if a person has already won 3 big prizes and their name is called again, they must give up one of their prizes if they want to claim the one they just won. That prize is then the next prize to be raffled off. We think this will improve the raffle in two ways: people will automatically "win" stuff; and it will allow the raffle to move quicker since we have to get to BEERPONG!!!! As always, if anyone has anything to raffle off- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let us know. Any and all gifts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Gary Murphy (Renee Massett’s husband) we will also have an auction this year!! Gary has graciously donated a very nice putter and a Titleist titanium driver. Both are valued at big bucks so some lucky golfer will walk away with one or both of these beauties. If you’re a big golfer, BRING MONEY!!!
