Feb. 1996 Choey Memorial Newsletter

Well, there’s a nip in the air and it might seem like a long time since we were sweating in the heat of July, but we thought we would send out the FIRST PENTATHLON NEWSLETTER!! We’ve enclosed the final standings of 1995 and we have set the date for the 1996 Choey Memorial. The date for next year’s event will be SATURDAY-JULY 20, 1996. If you were going to have other plans for that week-end, CHANGE THEM!! Festivities will begin on Friday and all are welcome to come and help set-up the venues as well as "test" the Beerpong tables!! And since it has become a tradition almost as big as the Choey Memorial, Kenny MAC will be running the float down the river on SUNDAY-JULY 21. Well, as usual we have gotten ahead of ourselves. Let’s finish closing up the 1995 event. Good time was had by all!! DAN and BEANER- Work on that Keg Throw!! PAT and KEN’s goal for next year?-To stay sober until 2:00 P.M. BOB and KERRI- How about scoring at least 1 point next year? TAMMY and MONICA- the bikini twins- Any chance of you two getting naked next year? Just a thought. HELMUT and KUCH- maybe you two shouldn’t plan on going on vacation because you guys got your butts kicked in Beerpong!! KEN and WALT- You suck, nuff said. JOHN and JULIA ZANGER- Another beer bath for John next year?? Well, I’m proud to announce that you two made up and will be expecting your first child sometime in May. I think we are going to need a new division soon. Let’s see, The Tricycle Race, the Diaper Change Relay, etc.... TORI and NANCY we’re checking that egg of yours for next year. MELISSA and KRISTINE from first to worst, better luck next time! Finally, for the first time in the history of the Choey Memorial, a perfect score of 90 points was scored by KEN and WALT. God you guys are annoying. Well, we probably forgot something but HEY, what can you do.

It seems that last year’s event was a total success. We raised $650.00 for the American Cancer Society and had a GREAT time doing it. Next year we will be donating half of the money raised to the American Cancer Society and the other half will be donated to the Joseph H. Kucher Scholarship Fund.

Sponsorship for the 1995 Pentathlon was great and over FORTY-FIVE prizes were given out. If anyone has anything they can donate as a prize for next year, please let us know.

1996 should be an even better year. There will be some minor changes, the biggest being HORSESHOES which will now be an early event starting at 1:00 P.M. This will replace GOLF which will now start at 4:00 P.M. KEN and WALT- let the Whining begin. We also decided to present 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies for all events next year. Looking at this year’s entries, 17 teams entered were men, 8 teams entered were women, and 9 teams entered were co-ed. Should we go to 3 separate divisions with this much interest?? At the very least, we will present 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for both the Men’s and Women/Co-Ed’s division. Finally, it seems that many parents have discovered the fun of the Choey Memorial and many have asked us to set up something for them. So, in 1996 there will be a separate division set up for family and friends with a little extra gray around the temples and little extra paunch around the middle. KEN and WALT, any chance you guys would enter that division?

We think we have done some good things to make the Choey Memorial Week-end something special. However, we also know that there that may be some good ideas out there to make the week-end even better. Please let us know if there something you would like to see to make the week-end even more special. (Seeing Kuch in a RED TEDDY doesn’t count)

Please circle JULY 19, 20, and 21 on your calendar for next year. Bring as many people as you like, but one rule applies "We are out to have a good time, your friends should want that also."

GREENIE, KUCH, and MEL.
