About the Memorial Fund

The Choey Memorial Scholarship Fund Inc. (CMSF) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your donations to the Memorial Fund are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Each year, the CMSF Board of Directors reviews candidate applications and selects an outstanding member of the Port Jervis High School (PJHS) graduating class to receive a $4,000 scholarship to a college of their choice. Scholarship award selection is based on the following criteria and personal characteristics:

  • A sound moral compass (compassionate, responsible, reliable and ethical)
  • Resilient, demonstrated by a strong work ethic and dedication
  • Involved in extracurricular activities throughout high school term
  • Excels academically
  • Craft a genuine 1-2 page essay on either topic below:

1)  The value of family and friends,  OR

2)  Select a musical group, artist, or song and describe how it has influenced the way you view the world or yourself

NOTE:  PJHS scholarship applicants should refer to the Guidance department regarding application requirements and completion deadlines.
